Makeup Revolution mini haul & review

Makeup Revolution review - The Daily Rumble
I never ever normally go to Superdrug. I don't know why, I guess I'm a Boots kinda gal.
Anyway, I stepped inside my local store last week for the first time in years and was instantly drawn to the 'Makeup Revolution' stand. I'd heard a little about the brand so took a closer look.
Impressed by the budget-friendly prices (hello, whole eyeshadow palettes from £4?!), I decided to pick up 4 products to try out. It would have been rude not to, right?

Here's what I bought and what I thought!

Ultra Bronze, Shimmer & Highlight - £4

3 pretty colours in one quite a decent size circular compact. Cheapo packaging (kinda expected at that price point to be fair).

On swatching them I didn't fall in love, the shades were nice but I found them to be quite chalky. On applying, with a light hand, to my face my initial reaction was justified. Chalky, patchy & near on impossible to blend. Not great for my pale completion, did absolutely nothing for me - orange alert. Not a big fan let's put it that way.

Vivid Baked Highlighter in Peach Lights - £3

Cheapo packing again but the highlighter itself inside looks so pretty.

Swatched quite nicely. Applied to my face well, nice colour payoff. Would probably keep for evening use due to the slight glitter particles. Good product for its price. Would have loved this if it was glitter free and just the powder as it's a really useable colour.

What You Waiting For Salvation Eyeshadow Palette - £6

Makeup Revolution have a serious amount of eyeshadow palettes to choose from. The pretty pink shades in this one persuaded me to pick it, along with the combo of matt & shimmery shades.

Swatched okay but not great so didn't have high hopes. However, they applied on my eyes really beautifully (chuck away the sponge applicator included and use your own brushes).
Relatively easy to blend, good colour payoff. Lasted all day (with an eyeshadow primer).
One negative was a little bit of fall out which I had to clean up with concealer, but no big deal really. (Perhaps do your eyes before your face when using their eyeshadows).
Packing is much better than the above products. A big thumbs up - really great budget buy. 18 shades for £6? Amazing!

Awesome Metals Eye Foil in Rose Gold - £4
This little box contains a creamy eyeshadow, a liquid eye primer and mixing tray. You pop a drop of the primer, a blob of the eyeshadow and mix!

Swatched well, great high pigment colour with super metallic shine.

A bit messy on application. Definitely a product where practise makes perfect - a little goes a long way. A bit faffy for my liking but great for a party etc.

So there you go, out of the 4 products I bought there was only one I really didn't like, which isn't bad at all.

Makeup Revolution have a huge range of products, starting from just £1, but personally I would stick to the eyeshadow palettes for sure - there are so many to choose from and you really can't beat the prices.
Also since my mini haul I've discovered that they have decent dupes for the Urban Decay Naked Palettes 1, 2 & 3 at only £4 each so I'm tempted to go and check those out! (The Iconic 1, 2 & 3).

Are you a fan of Makeup Revolution? What are your favourite products?

Check out the bareMinerals' blushes I can't stop buying here and my thoughts on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush here.

Love Emma
XOXO
